It has been quite some time since I last conducted a comprehensive review of a skincare routine, but I am thrilled to dive into it now, and believe me, it’s a fantastic one! I’ve managed to gather nearly a complete skincare routine (the Vitamin C arrived a bit later), and I am absolutely loving every product! After almost two months of dedicated use, I am eager to share my in-depth insights on several products from this incredible brand!
Founded by YouTube creator Susan Yara of Mixed Makeup, Naturium made its debut in late 2019. This brand stands out as one of the few “influencer brands” that I have followed closely from the start, thanks to my long-time enjoyment of Susan’s insightful skincare videos. I was overjoyed when she was invited by Vogue to showcase her skincare routine, which she had previously reacted to from others. I could relate to her skin and her approach to skincare, which emphasized quality ingredients. Thus, when Naturium launched, I knew the key elements of skincare she valued would be evident in her product line. Although there was a bit of drama during the launch that required an apology video (it seemed like we were inundated with those in 2020), I eventually moved on and eagerly joined the many Canadians anticipating Naturium’s arrival!
Experience the Benefits of Purple Ginseng Cleansing Balm*
Susan is a strong advocate for double cleansing (and she firmly believes in never using makeup wipes), so I anticipated that there would be a cleansing balm or oil featured in her skincare routine. This cleansing balm is expertly formulated with purple ginseng, plant-based esters, and oils enriched with linoleic acid that not only hydrate the skin but also effectively dissolve sunscreen, makeup, and impurities. Remarkably, this product is unscented and boasts a unique sorbet-like texture that melts beautifully upon contact with the skin. While a spatula can be used to scoop it out, I prefer using my fingers or nails for convenience. This balm emulsifies even the most stubborn waterproof eye makeup without causing irritation, allowing for a gentle massage around the lashes. After rinsing, my skin feels luxuriously soft and clean, without any tightness.
Discover the Refreshing Niacinamide Cleansing Gelee 3%
I was so eager to try the Niacinamide Cleansing Gelee that I made a quick trip to Shoppers Drug Mart to grab it. I absolutely adore this product! The texture is delightfully unique, resembling a “loose jelly,” making it fun to massage into the skin. This cleanser is gentle enough to be used all over my face, including around my eyes, without any irritation. It produces a slight foam but, thankfully, does not leave my skin feeling overly stripped or squeaky clean, which is always a concern with foaming cleansers. I often worry about that squeaky feeling, which usually indicates over-cleansing, but I knew Susan wouldn’t disappoint! Not only is this an excellent cleanser, but the addition of 3% niacinamide provides an extra brightening effect that I simply love!
Revitalize Your Skin with BHA Liquid Exfoliant 2%*
It is recommended to begin using this product every other day, gradually increasing frequency to daily use as your skin adapts. I prefer applying it directly with my hands to avoid wasting product on a cotton pad. I use it right after cleansing at night before proceeding with my typical skincare routine. And remember, it’s essential to wear SPF during the day when using exfoliating products!
Achieve Radiant Skin with Niacinamide Serum Plus Zinc 12%*
The product I was most excited to try was undoubtedly the Niacinamide Serum, as I am a huge fan of niacinamide and prefer to use it in my nighttime routine after applying a vitamin C serum in the morning. One of the standout features of this serum is its impressive ability to layer beautifully with other products. Unlike many niacinamide serums that can feel sticky, this one has a gel-like consistency that dries without leaving any residue. It layers effortlessly, even beneath a sheet mask. If you struggle with redness, the 2% zinc in this formulation is particularly beneficial in calming inflammation, especially for those prone to acne.
Hydrate and Nourish with Multi-Peptide Moisturizer*
This moisturizer is truly exceptional! I have used it so frequently that the top is now concave, indicating just how much I love it! What makes this product remarkable is its inclusion of three different peptides prominently featured at the beginning of the ingredient list, along with ascorbic acid, niacinamide, and squalane. This formulation boasts an impressive array of beneficial ingredients, and I appreciate how quickly it absorbs into the skin. Susan has excelled in creating a moisturizer that allows me to comfortably layer my sunscreen on top without feeling heavy or overloaded with product.
My Final Thoughts on Naturium Skincare: I genuinely love every single product that I have tested, with the Niacinamide Cleansing Gelee and Multi-Peptide Moisturizer standing out as my absolute favorites in this routine. Recently, I also received the Vitamin C Complex Serum, which I am excited to start using soon! The ingredient formulations are impressive, the textures work harmoniously together when layered, and the pricing is incredibly reasonable! I am delighted that this brand has finally made its way to Canada, and I am eagerly hoping for all of their products to become available here soon!
