Purchased by me
As I sit down to share my thoughts on Sol de Janeiro products, I feel like I’ve dedicated the entire day to crafting this post. Yet, when I glance at the clock, I realize it has only been about two hours. Perhaps it’s because I woke up at my usual work time on my day off and ended up working on some tasks related to my day job for an unexpected four hours. Nevertheless, I feel a sense of accomplishment as I tick off items from my long to-do list, making me feel more prepared for tomorrow!
Initially, I hesitated to purchase Sol de Janeiro products due to their trendy reputation and relatively high price point for a moisturizer. However, during one of the VIB Rouge events, I finally gave in and opted for a sampler along with some Bum Bum Cream, and since then, my experience has been nothing short of transformative! Now, I completely understand the hype surrounding these luxurious products!
Experience the Luxurious Shampoo and Conditioner
To start with, the packaging of these mini bottles is absolutely adorable! The matte finish gives them a sophisticated touch, and the design of the buttons to open the bottles is delightfully whimsical. After falling in love with the fragrance of the Bum Bum Cream, I decided to indulge in a holiday set featuring mini haircare products that share the delightful Cheirosa ’62 scent, characterized by a tempting blend of pistachio, salted caramel, and vanilla. The Brazilian Joia Shampoo and Conditioner are sulfate-free, color-safe, bond-repairing, and provide weightless hydration to the hair. I always seek color-safe options, but in my experience, most shampoos and conditioners are generally gentle enough. However, I find that sticking to specific haircare products is essential when I have blonde hair.
If you’re someone who finds showering therapeutic, as I do, then the scents of your haircare products will significantly enhance the experience. Both the shampoo and conditioner emanate the delightful Cheirosa ’62 fragrance, although only a subtle hint lingers in my hair post-rinse. The texture of both products is luxuriously creamy, leaving my coarse hair feeling incredibly soft, even without the need for a hair mask. However, those with fine hair might find these products a tad heavy in comparison to my own coarse and porous hair.
Indulge in the Brazilian Crush Fragrance Mist
The creators of Sol de Janeiro clearly understood that we could never have enough of the Cheirosa ’62 scent, which is why the hair and body mist is the perfect solution to keep that delightful aroma alive throughout the day! This mist is lightweight yet concentrated, so when spritzing my hair, I only require two sprays since my porous hair holds onto scents remarkably well. Additionally, I noticed a fun product note on the Sephora website indicating that this mist can also be used on lingerie—how exciting!
Reveal Radiance with Rio Radiance Cream and Brazilian Bum Bum Cream
Initially, I didn’t plan on reviewing these two body creams, but their performance has been so outstanding during the summer that I felt compelled to share my experience! I first tried a mini version of the iconic Bum Bum Cream to see if it lived up to the hype, and without a doubt, I loved it! If you haven’t experienced any “tub” products from Sol de Janeiro, you should definitely indulge, even if just for the sheer satisfaction of their unique lids! They feature thick, grippy lids that ensure you won’t be dropping them, even with product-covered hands. As for the body cream itself, it is incredibly hydrating and creamy without feeling greasy at all. Additionally, the Cheirosa ’62 fragrance is quite potent, so you may not even need to wear perfume if you apply it generously!
The Rio Radiance Cream is one I picked up earlier this year after watching a favorites video from Tati (yes, I still watch her to remember the reasons I started following beauty YouTubers years ago). I was particularly drawn to it because of the mica content, which gives a beautiful summer glow. This limited edition cream features the Cheirosa ’87 scent, a captivating blend of solar tuberose, leite de coco, and vanilla, designed to evoke memories of summer days at the beach. While the fragrance is not as sweet as Cheirosa ’62, it is still potent and lingers beautifully upon application. The mica provides a subtle hint of glow, enhancing the overall radiance of your skin.
Final Thoughts on the Products: While I enjoyed the haircare products, it may be some time before I repurchase them since I have many more haircare items to try. However, the body creams are definitely on my re-purchase list! The only downside is that the fragrance can be a bit overwhelming for my husband, causing him to sneeze, which can be disappointing. I remain hopeful that during the winter, when the air is less “heavy and humid,” he will find the scents more tolerable since he only pointed this out last month when I wore the Rio Radiance cream.
