Purchased by me
I feel like I have been immersed in writing this Sol de Janiero review for what seems like the entire day. However, upon glancing at the clock, I realize it’s only been about two hours! I woke up at my usual work time on my day off, then unexpectedly ended up dedicating four hours to some tasks related to my day job. Now, as I prepare for tomorrow, I’m grateful that I managed to cross several items off my lengthy to-do list, which brings me a sense of accomplishment!
Initially, I hesitated to purchase Sol de Janiero products because they seemed overly trendy—still are to some extent—and the price tag for just a moisturizer felt steep. However, during one of the VIB Rouge events, I finally caved and decided to try a sampler along with some Bum Bum Cream. Since then, my perspective has completely changed, and I now understand the hype surrounding these products!
Experience the Luxury of Shampoo and Conditioner
To begin with, the packaging of these mini bottles is absolutely adorable! They feature a matte finish that not only looks sleek but also makes them enjoyable to hold. Even the buttons for opening the bottles are designed with charm! After falling in love with the fragrance of the Bum Bum Cream, I opted for a holiday set containing mini haircare products that share the delightful Cheirosa ’62 scent—a mouthwatering blend of pistachio, salted caramel, and vanilla. The Brazilian Joia Shampoo and Conditioner stand out as they are sulfate-free, color-safe, bond-repairing, and provide weightless hydration for your hair. I always prioritize color-safe products, and while many shampoos and conditioners tend to be gentle, I find that sticking to specific haircare is crucial only when I have blonde hair.
If you find that showering feels like a therapeutic escape, as I do, then the scents of your products become essential. Both the shampoo and conditioner exude the delicious Cheirosa ’62 aroma; however, only a subtle hint lingers in my hair after rinsing. The texture of both products is creamy, and even without using a hair mask, my coarse hair felt incredibly soft. That said, those with fine hair might find these products to be slightly heavier than preferable, considering my hair’s coarse and porous nature.
Extend the Cheirosa ’62 Scent with Brazilian Crush Fragrance Mist
The creators of Sol de Janiero clearly anticipated our desire to indulge in the delightful Cheirosa ’62 fragrance, which is why the Brazilian Crush Hair and Body Mist is an ideal addition to your routine! This lightweight mist is concentrated, so when spritzing my hair, I typically use just two sprays, as my porous hair holds scents exceptionally well. Additionally, I noticed a product note on the Sephora website indicating that this mist can also be used on lingerie—an enticing twist!
Hydrate and Illuminate with Rio Radiance Cream and Brazilian Bum Bum Cream
Initially, I wasn’t planning to review these two body creams, but they have proven to be too beneficial for me this summer to overlook! I first purchased a mini version of the iconic Bum Bum Cream just to gauge whether I would enjoy it, and yes, I absolutely loved it! If you haven’t yet tried any of Sol de Janiero’s “tub” products, you should—if only for the sheer satisfaction of their lids! They feature thick, grippy lids that ensure a secure hold, even if your hands are covered in product. The body cream itself is remarkably hydrating and creamy without feeling greasy. Its intense Cheirosa ’62 fragrance means you won’t need any additional perfume if you generously apply it all over your body!
The Rio Radiance Cream was a purchase I made earlier this year, inspired by a Favorites video from Tati (yes, I continue to watch her for nostalgia’s sake). I was particularly drawn to it because of the presence of mica in the cream, which promised a subtle summer glow. This limited edition cream features the Cheirosa ’87 scent, a delightful blend of solar tuberose, leite de coco, and vanilla, all designed to evoke memories of summer days on the beach. While the scent is not as sweet as that of Cheirosa ’62, it remains robust and lingers pleasantly after application. The mica offers a soft, natural glow that enhances the skin without being overpowering.
Final Thoughts on Sol de Janiero Products: I enjoyed the haircare products, although I might wait a while before repurchasing since I have a backlog of haircare reviews to complete. However, the body creams are definitely on my repurchase list! One downside I’ve encountered with the body creams is that the scent tends to be too strong for my husband’s sensitive nose, causing him to sneeze, which is disappointing! I’m hopeful that during the winter months, when the air is less “heavy and humid,” the fragrance will be more tolerable, as he only commented on the scent last month when I wore the Rio Radiance.
