Tracee Ellis Ross stopped by the Today Show in New York City on Monday to talk about her haircare company, Pattern.
The 50-year-old daughter of Grammy winner Diana Ross shared that her ‘Black-owned and Black-founded’ company launched the Pattern blow dryer, the brand’s first hair tool.
She was spotted leaving the show in a colorful ensemble, including a pale orange button-up shirt tucked into a yellow calf-length skirt with several large frills going up the front.

Over the shirt and skirt pairing, the Black-ish star wore a light blue blazer and carried a large red purse.
The most stand-out aspect of her outfit was her gold knee-high heeled boots, which she strutted on the pavement outside the studio.
Her stunning hair was very natural, and she kept her makeup light, except for her bold purple lipstick.
Tracee appeared on the Today Show to talk more about her haircare line and how she feels after recently turning 50.
When asked about her new product she said: ‘It’s a curl-conscious blowdryer developed specifically for the curly, coily, and tight-textured community.’

She continued: ‘Heat has been used to beat our hair into submission. This is a way to let it be free and open up new possibilities of new styles and shapes.’
Pattern was founded in 2019 by Tracee in celebration of Black Beauty and after years of struggling to find the right way to style and use heat on her hair.
On the website she wrote: ‘This has been 20 years of dreaming, 10 years in the making (I wrote my first brand pitch in 2008 right after Girlfriends), 2 years of working with chemists, and 74 samples later.’
The actress then said: ‘This is a brand that brings together all the pieces that I’ve been looking for: the line of hair care and styling tools that I wish had always existed.’

The conversation then turned to the events of this ‘season’ of her life after turning 50 and the success of her acting career.
‘This feels like a wonderful new chapter. A lot of it was brewing and the seeds had been planted during my pre-50 years, during my time on Black-ish. Obviously, Pattern is now we’re three years old.’
She went on to say: ‘But for me, it’s really about exploring who I am, and I couldn’t be happier.’
The beauty talked about her new series on Hulu titled Hair Tales, which is a docuseries about Black women and their humanity told through the metaphor of their hair.

‘We interviewed a notable person in every episode, but we were surrounded by academics, scholars, and people in the salon really talking about the beauty, the celebration, and the joy of who we are,’ Tracee said about the show.
The Golden Globe winner was also asked about what she wants to do in life that she has yet to do.
‘Top of the list, I really wanna do an action film. Top of the list, a partnership; I would love to find a life partner. Partnership, let’s see what else could we do? I’d love to write a book one day.’
