The last time technology enthusiast Christopher Gomez went to Las Vegas to attend the Consumer Electronics Show, the world’s largest tech exhibition, was in 2012. He returned this year to the event and came back with three favorite discoveries.
“I couldn’t find the time to go after I went in 2012 but I knew that after COVID this would be the biggest yet,” the Ignacio resident says. “I love technology and how it has shaped and improved our lives, and I was hoping to find the latest and greatest toys in which to possibly invest.”
With more than 3,200 exhibitors and exhibits in about 10 hotels, and the Las Vegas Convention Center encompassing four giant city blocks, “huge would be an understatement,” he quips. “There was no way I could see every exhibit.”
Of the exhibits he did visit, the MedWand, a handheld telemedicine device used by health organizations that want to incorporate advanced virtual care services, intrigued him.
The device can take body temperature, blood oxygenation, heart rhythms and other vitals, as well as serve as a stethoscope and ultra-HD camera without a patient going to the doctor’s office.
The second product was the John Deere autonomous tractor. According to John Deere, this driverless tractor was designed with one mission in mind — to feed the world — especially now when the world and farmers face a soaring population and less available land and skilled labor.
This tractor has six pairs of cameras that allow it to detect obstacles and triangulate distance. Through an app, the farmer can customize how the tractor plows, plants seeds, sprays and fertilizes plants, and harvests the crops. It can also tell the difference between a weed and the crop.
Finally, Gomez saw value in the Aiper Elite Pro Cordless Robotic Pool Cleaner (on sale for $720) and might bring one home.
“Besides being cordless, it climbs walls and cleans the water line,” he says. “My current pool cleaner doesn’t clean the pool walls, it gets stuck on the steps and it stops when the pressure hose gets tangled up.”
Not to mention, he also has to replace the sweep’s hose whenever it springs a leak. The Aiper pool sweep doesn’t have a hose.
The Elite Pro’s sister product, the Aiper Seagull Pro Cordless Robotic Pool Cleaner, scored a coveted CES Innovation Award, which recognizes products with outstanding design and technology.

• EcoFlow Blade is an innovative robotic lawn sweeping mower that relies on smart in-app programs, GPS and LiDAR technologies for its leaf gathering and precision edge mowing.
• The (New) Rise Garden is a Wi-Fi enabled, app-controlled indoor hydroponic garden for growing herbs and vegetables through all seasons. It’s modular, self-watering and fertilizing, and can indicate harvest time.
• Eve MotionBlinds for DIY is the first smart home, connected motor for retrofitting existing blinds and shades operable with Alexa, Google Assistant, Siri and other apps. Available in March for $200 from evehome.com.
• Airly Chair (Deluxe Version) is an intelligent, ergonomic office chair that adapts to different sitting positions and aims to reduce occupational diseases.
• The Kohler Stillness Bath, inspired by Japanese forest bathing, is soothingly filled from the bottom while the user experiences the tub’s full-spectrum lighting and aromatherapy friendly “fog” on the surface on the water. It will launch later this year and will cost about $17,568.
• The Dacor 24-inch wall oven includes the cooking modes of air fry, air sous vide and full steam, along with four-part pure convection and Wi-Fi connectivity that enables voice and remote control.

Eve MotionBlinds for DIY retrofits existing blinds and shades in motor-operated ones that work with apps such as Alexa, Google Assistant and Siri.
• TTcare is a preventive health care health app for pets. Take a photo of your dog or cat, and the app will analyze the image for potential eye, skin or joint-related diseases and conditions and let pet owners join virtual consultations with vegetarians.
• Oral Care system is a digital tracker that attaches to any toothbrush and passively maps the brush patterns. The embedded social networking in the app can help parents monitor their children’s brushing patterns.
• Motion Pillow 2023 is a memory foam pillow and a motion sensor drive unit to help curb snoring. When it detects snoring, the system injects air into the pillow by turning the user’s head or lifting the cervical spine. According to the company’s website, 93. % of participants in a clinical trial showed a reduction in snoring after using the pillow.
