Holi is a festival of colors known for spreading joy throughout the country. Most of the citizens of India celebrate the festival of Holi in a grand manner. But while it is fun to play with the bright colours, the chemicals in the colors tend to cause damage to our skin and especially our hair. If you have long hair, Holi and celebrating Holi may be a nightmare for you. But there are ways you can protect your hair and do aftercare to minimize the damage. Oil, Oil, Oil!

Oiling your hair properly the night before you play Holi, creates a greasy but protective layer on your hair that protects it from the chemicals of the colors and minimizes damage. Wear A Cap
It may seem impossible but wear a cap or a bandana to protect your hair from the colors and dyes, while you play Holi. If you think a cap will easily fall off, tie a tight scarf or bandana around your hair to protect the majority of your hair from the harmful ingredients of the dyes and colors used to celebrate Holi.

Tie Your Hair

If you have long hair and you are playing Holi, it is extremely important that you either tie your hair in a ponytail or braid it. This enables your hair to be compact and prevents color particles from getting inside and reaching the depths of your hair. This is a great way to reduce damage to your hair during Holi. If possible it would be best to tie your hair in a tight bun and protect it with a net while you play Holi. Shampoo and condition your hair immediately after you are done playing Holi.
