Exciting news from Stoic Beauty, a Toronto-based skincare brand that has captured my heart! My journey with this brand began earlier this year when I discovered their luxurious serums, followed by a delightful experience with their body oil and butter. Recently, I’ve been on a mission to explore various cleansers, and as a devoted proponent of the double cleansing method, Stoic Beauty’s Gemini Cleansers instantly piqued my interest!
The Gemini Cleansers are designed to be utilized in tandem as a complete double cleanse duo, although they can certainly shine on their own. The first product, the Alpha cleanser, is an oil-based formula that boasts a light and refreshing citrus scent. This luxurious oil cleanser feels rich and full-bodied, effectively breaking down sunscreen, face makeup, and eye makeup. However, I found that waterproof mascara required a bit more effort, needing a second round of cleansing for complete removal. While I had anticipated a classic milky rinse reminiscent of traditional Asian cleansers, the Alpha cleanser is a true oil, so it necessitates a follow-up cleanser or a warm washcloth for thorough removal. Yet, the skin feels incredibly soft and hydrated after cleansing, almost as if it has gained moisture rather than lost it!
INGREDIENTS: VITIS VINIFERA (GRAPE SEED) OIL, CAPRYLIC/CAPRIC TRIGLYCERIDE, COCO-CAPRYLATE, POLYCLYCERYL-3 OLEATE, LEMON ESSENTIAL OIL, TANGERINE ESSENTIAL OIL
Moving on to the second part of this cleansing ritual, the Beta cleanser emerged as my personal favorite. The invigorating scent of tea tree oil instantly caught my attention, adding a refreshing touch to my skincare routine. This cleanser features an intriguing ingredient called holy basil hydrosol, also known as tulsi, revered in traditional Ayurvedic practices for its purifying and revitalizing properties. It brightens the complexion and imparts a radiant glow to the skin, making it a must-have in any skincare arsenal. Additionally, this cleanser is infused with calming elements such as soothing aloe vera extract, cucumber extract, and tamanu seed oil, all of which work together to alleviate irritation and redness. It’s easy to see why this cleanser quickly became a favorite of mine; it offers a multifaceted approach to skincare.
This gel-like cleanser produces a gentle foam, effectively cleansing without stripping the skin of its natural moisture. When paired with the Alpha cleanser, my skin felt impeccably clean, balanced, and incredibly soft to the touch. My only minor critique is that the product dispenses quite aggressively from the pump, sometimes making it challenging to manage the amount used. However, this small issue pales in comparison to the impressive and luxurious ingredient list that the Beta cleanser boasts!
INGREDIENTS: OCIMUM SANCTUM (HOLY BASIL HYDROSOL), AQUA, COCO-GLUCOSIDE, GLYCERIN, CUCUMIS SATIVUS (CUCUMBER) EXTRACT, CAMELLIA SINENSIS (GREEN TEA) LEAF EXTRACT, SODIUM COCOAMPHOACETATE, LAURYL GLUCOSIDE, CALOPHYLLUM INOPHYLLUM (TAMANU) SEED OIL, SODIUM COCOYL GLUTAMATE, SODIUM LAURYL GLUCOSE CARBOXYLATE, HYDROXYETHYLCELLULOSE, GLUCONOLACTONE, SODIUM BENZOATE, ALOE BARBADENSIS (ALOE VERA) EXTRACT
In this photo, I thought it might be insightful to show the Alpha (oil) on the right side and the Beta (gel) on the left side, highlighting their distinct textures and functionalities for a clearer understanding of their use in the cleansing process.
Final Thoughts on Stoic Beauty’s Gemini Cleansers: The harmonious combination of Alpha and Beta delivers an exceptional cleansing experience, each enhancing the other beautifully. Personally, I find the Beta cleanser more enjoyable due to its delightful texture and versatility for standalone use. Priced reasonably at $20 each, these cleansers are a worthy investment, especially considering they are water-safe and crafted in Canada. I am eager to explore more offerings from Stoic Beauty, particularly the Morning Mist, as I appreciate their commitment to simplicity and the incorporation of unique ingredients that aren’t commonly found in skincare products.
