The previous formula was known for its stunning colors but was thick and opaque, often resulting in excessively dry lips. I frequently dealt with peeling, which detracted from the overall beauty of the shades. While the colors were undeniably gorgeous, the discomfort was a significant drawback.
In contrast, the new Everlasting Hyperlight Liquid Lipstick has made remarkable improvements! This formula is thinner and more akin to the Lime Crime Plushie liquid lipstick range. It feels incredibly comfortable to wear, is non-drying, and eliminates that heavy, cakey sensation that often accompanies other liquid lipsticks.

To give you a better idea of my preferences, here are some liquid lipstick formulas I consistently enjoy. These products do not dry out my lips, offer long-lasting wear, are comfortable to wear, come in a variety of stunning colors, and boast impressive transfer resistance.
Understanding My Skin Tone for Perfect Shade Matching
At 45 years old, I have sensitive dry skin accompanied by rosacea, giving my complexion pink overtones. My skin tone is very fair, leaning towards neutral cool, with muted yellow olive undertones. I find that I look best in foundations that are neutral, neutral cool, or neutral leaning yellow, as well as those with muted yellow undertones. Essentially, muted undertones tend to complement my skin beautifully.

The shade Queen of Poisons, a beautiful chestnut rose, complements my very fair neutral to cool muted yellow olive skin tone beautifully. Unlike the older version, Lolita, which had an unflattering orange undertone, Queen of Poisons offers a muted rosy brown that serves as a perfect statement ‘nude’ for my complexion, showcasing a rich neutrality that I adore.
Wolfsbane, depicted as an intense blue-purple, is one of the most enchanting blue-toned purple lipsticks I’ve encountered. I absolutely adore its vibrant hue! It stands out as a fantastic choice for anyone looking to create stunning purple goth-inspired looks.
The shade Bloodflower, described as a blue-toned red, is simply stunning on me! I have a special affinity for blue-toned reds due to their flattering nature, and Bloodflower serves as a bold power red for those who love to make a statement with their lip color. Additionally, it’s worth noting that blue-toned reds can create the illusion of whiter teeth!
As for Moth Orchid, a soft pink, it has been a bit of a letdown for my preferences. The warm tones pull more than I anticipated, which doesn’t align with my typical choices. However, I’m not giving up on this shade just yet. I have a few more looks and ideas in mind before I make a final decision on its suitability. I had hoped that Moth Orchid would lean more cool-toned or at least neutral.
In general, I have a clear preference for cool-toned and bright neon lipsticks that truly pop!
Comprehensive Review of KVD Everlasting Hyperlight Liquid Lipstick
The KVD Everlasting Hyperlight Liquid Lipstick stands out as an exceptional, long-wearing liquid lipstick. You have the flexibility to control the opacity by applying one thin layer for a semi-sheer effect or layering it thicker for an opaque finish, catering to your desired look.
In my experience, it remains transfer-resistant, meaning that when I give Dave a quick kiss on the cheek, there may be just a slight hint of color around the edge rather than a substantial lipstick mark.
I really appreciate the creative nomenclature for the lipstick color names! They’ve chosen themes based on poisonous plants and intriguing blooms, which adds a whimsical touch. This is a refreshing change from the often overused sexual innuendo or drug-related names that saturate the beauty industry.
Evaluating the Claims of KVD Everlasting Hyperlight Liquid Lipstick
From my personal experience, the Everlasting Hyperlight Liquid Lipstick meets about 75% of its claims, which is commendable.
However, I have found it challenging to achieve all-day, transfer-proof wear regardless of the application method I try. While it does provide long-wearing and transfer-resistant performance, it’s not entirely transfer-proof for me. After meals, I typically need to do a quick touch-up as it may wear away at the inner rim of my lips. Heavy makeout sessions with Dave are also a no-go unless I want to reapply afterward!
The formula is incredibly lightweight, non-drying, and visually stunning. The feather-resistant matte finish looks fantastic on all four colors that I own, enhancing their appearance.
With the KVD Everlasting Hyperlight Liquid Lipstick, I find that minimal touch-ups are necessary after eating, and I have no issues with hydration even with my daily water intake.
I initially started with the shade Queen of Poisons, unsure if this new formula would perform like the old version or provide an improved experience. Once I was satisfied with how Queen of Poisons looked and wore, I confidently added Wolfsbane to my collection. From there, I tried Bloodflower, and lastly, I selected Moth Orchid.
I would rate the KVD Everlasting Hyperlight Liquid Lipsticks a solid 4 out of 5 stars because I truly love the formula, the majority of the colors I purchased, and the overall feel on my lips. If it were 100% transfer-proof and/or provided all-day wear, it would easily earn a perfect score of 5 stars!
Step-by-Step Guide on Applying KVD Everlasting Hyperlight Liquid Lipstick
Before applying any lipstick, I prioritize using a lip scrub along with a warm washcloth to ensure my lips are as smooth as possible. During the day, I apply my la la lips CBD lip balm to maintain softness, and at night, I indulge in my Silk Naturals Super Fruit Lip Mask to lock in moisture while I sleep.
In my experience, the best method for applying the KVD Everlasting Hyperlight Liquid Lipstick is to at least outline my lips with a lip pencil. I prefer to both outline and fill in my lips using a lip pencil first. After that, I apply the KVD liquid lipstick, and often I finish the look by topping it with a multichrome eyeshadow from Karla Cosmetics.
Utilizing a lip pencil allows me to refine my uneven lip line, helping to create a more symmetrical and visually appealing lip shape. Additionally, the lip pencil enhances the longevity of the lipstick application, resulting in using less product overall.
It’s unfortunate that KVD discontinued popular shades like Poe and several other vibrant lip pencil colors. The KVD lip pencil formula has always impressed me, and I sincerely wish they would introduce new shades that match colors like Wolfsbane and Medusa’s Head.
