While I don’t indulge in makeup as frequently as I once did, foundation remains a product that constantly catches my eye. I feel as though I’ve tried nearly every option available! My journey with LYS Beauty began during the pandemic, when I sought out more BIPOC brands to support.
Founded by Trish Thompson, LYS Beauty represents a clean beauty movement—though I often find that term lacking. The brand has gained recognition for its focus on complexion products, offering an inclusive range of shades and straightforward makeup that embraces “the skin we are in”!
Over the past two years, I’ve streamlined my morning makeup routine, gravitating towards quick-apply products, especially foundation. While I sometimes still use a makeup sponge, my preferred option has shifted to stick foundations, and LYS was at the top of my list to try! As an Ipsy subscriber, I often access full-sized products at discounted prices. Even with the exchange rate, I found this $12 USD foundation stick to be more economical than the $39 CDN plus taxes I would typically pay at Sephora!

Notable ingredients include: Green Tea Extract, which soothes and hydrates while minimizing redness; Watermelon Seed Extract, which helps retain skin moisture; and Rosehip Oil, rich in vitamins A, C, and E, which aids in diminishing the appearance of dark spots.

I am currently using the shade LN3, which appears slightly too light for my complexion. when blended, it matches quite well. I plan to finish this stick before my next purchase, at which point I will likely opt for MN1 from their Medium shade range instead of Light, especially to complement a summer tan. Interestingly, I just took the LYS Beauty shade finder test online, and it still matched me with LN3—what a coincidence!

Final Thoughts: I will definitely repurchase this foundation stick! The applicator’s chiseled triangular shape makes it easy to navigate the under-eye area and the nose contours. The formula is long-lasting yet feels lightweight. I appreciate that it evens out my skin without appearing cakey. Most importantly, I can apply it in under a minute! Absolutely sold!
