Five men were sentenced Tuesday in a conspiracy to transport more than $1.3 million worth of stolen perfume products between New Jersey and Florida, US Attorney Philip R. Sellinger said.
Carlos Duvergel, 58, Juan Crespo, 46, Felix Castillo, 49, Asnay Fernandez, 32 and Ismael Manzano-Suarez, 25, all Florida residents, were previously convicted at trial with conspiring to transport stolen property in interstate commerce and transportation property of in interstate commerce, officials said.
Crespo was sentenced to 37 months, while the other four defenders received 33-month sentences, authorities said.
The men broke into a perfume warehouse in Edison in November 2017, stealing $1.36 million in products before transporting them out of state in tractor trailers, prosecutors said.
They were arrested in May 2018 after attempting to break into another perfume warehouse in East Brunswick, officials said.
The defenders are also subject to three years of supervised release and have been ordered to pay $1.36 million in institution, the US Attorney’s Office said.
