In an inspiring collaboration with the Lewiston Tribune, sisters Helen Wilks and Ellen Smith, along with their families, are once again leading an annual gift drive aimed at providing meaningful presents to those in need within the community. They invite everyone reading this to select and purchase gifts for one or more residents this holiday season, ensuring that no one feels forgotten. This marks the 44th consecutive year of their heartfelt efforts to bring joy to these individuals.
The organization and delivery of these generous gifts will strictly follow the latest health department guidelines to ensure safety during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, prioritizing the well-being of everyone involved.
Those interested in participating can choose a recipient’s number and select a gift from the provided list below, then deliver it to the Lewiston Tribune office between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. on weekdays. It is essential that all gifts are new and arrive at the Tribune by the deadline of 5 p.m. on December 17 to ensure timely distribution.
The Lewiston Tribune office is conveniently located at 505 Capital St. in downtown Lewiston, making it easy for donors to drop off their contributions and spread holiday cheer.
Each gift must be beautifully wrapped and clearly tagged with the recipient’s name or initials, their assigned number, and a description of the enclosed item. Additionally, a separate tag should include the donor’s name, ensuring that each recipient knows who to thank for their thoughtful gift. Wilks anticipates that every individual on the wish list will receive at least five thoughtfully chosen gifts this year.
The Wilks and Smith families will take on the responsibility of collecting the gifts from the Tribune office, organizing them efficiently, and delivering them to the various residences before Christmas. This allows the staff at these facilities to distribute the gifts to the recipients, ensuring that they feel the warmth and joy of the holiday season.
