Having previously utilized the original Ethereal Eyes palette, which became a reliable choice for my wedding makeup kit, I was already acquainted with the high-quality formulas. The earlier version featured a different color palette, predominantly showcasing warm pinks, making it exceptionally versatile and easy to wear for various occasions.
The Ethereal Eyes Moonlight palette is priced at $68 and features 12 full-size eyeshadows across four distinct textures: matte, satin, shimmer, and glitter top coats. This diverse range allows for creative combinations and stunning eye looks that can be customized for both casual and formal events.
EXPERIENCE THE PIGMENTATION OF ETHEREAL EYES
While I wouldn’t classify these shadows as heavily pigmented, this characteristic has been a pleasant aspect of Makeup By Mario’s formulas in the past. The shadows are user-friendly, allowing for easy application and build-up of color. However, the glitter top coats possess a lower pigment concentration, which is intentional, as they are designed to impart a multi-dimensional sparkle when layered over other shades, enhancing the overall eye look without overpowering it.

DISCOVER THE FORMULA BEHIND THE MAGIC
The matte shades in this palette are exceptionally silky and glide on smoothly, providing a flawless application. However, it’s worth noting that these shadows exhibit slightly more fallout or kick-up compared to the Master Mattes palette. This isn’t a significant concern, but it’s advisable to tap your brush before applying to minimize any mess. The glitter topcoats start off soft and dry but develop a unique texture over time as oils accumulate, which I personally find enhances their appeal after repeated use.

EXPERIENCE LONG-LASTING WEAR WITH ETHEREAL EYES
For optimal results, I primed my eyelids using the Makeup By Mario Eye Prep & Set, and I discovered that the wear time for this palette is fairly standard. However, the glitter top coats tend to flake off later in the day, so it’s crucial to use a good eyeshadow primer to keep your look intact. Additionally, a light mist of setting spray over your final look can significantly enhance the longevity and vibrancy of your eye makeup throughout the day.

VALUE FOR MONEY: IS IT WORTH THE $68?
The packaging of the Ethereal Eyes Moonlight palette exudes quality, featuring a substantial mirror that enhances the application experience. At $68, the price point aligns well with the current market for high-end eyeshadow palettes. The generous pan sizes and the unique formula of the glitter top coats add to its overall value, making it a competitive option for makeup enthusiasts seeking versatility.
HIGHLIGHTS OF THE PALETTE: WHAT I LOVED
I absolutely enjoyed the smooth application of the matte shades, which glide on effortlessly for a flawless finish. The glitter top coats are stunning, providing an instant pop of glamour with just one swipe. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that many of the shades lean towards neutral tones, with slight golden undertones, which adds versatility. Initially, I assumed this palette would be entirely cool-toned, but it pleasantly exceeded my expectations.
DRAWBACKS OF THE PALETTE: WHAT I DIDN’T LIKE
While the palette has its strengths, the color range doesn’t fully cater to my preferences. Although I adore the top coats, I find them too extravagant for everyday wear. Additionally, many of the other shades appear overly ashy on my complexion, limiting their wearability for my style.
WHO WOULD BENEFIT FROM THIS PALETTE?
This palette is perfect for those who are tired of the warm, bronzy, sunset-inspired tones and seek an alternative. If you’re not a fan of the pinky Pillowtalk vibes and are instead yearning for a revival of the 90’s cool-toned aesthetic, the Makeup By Mario Ethereal Eyes Moonlight Palette will resonate with you. Additionally, if you’re searching for a palette that’s ideal for nighttime outings like girls’ nights or New Year’s Eve celebrations, you will find joy in experimenting with the Ethereal Eyes Moonlight palette.

WHO MIGHT NOT FIND IT SUITABLE?
Those with greyish blue or green eyes may find several shades in this palette challenging to wear. The cooler-toned shades, particularly the grays and taupes, tend to flatter warm-toned eyes more effectively. Consequently, individuals with cool-toned eyes might experience a lack of complementary contrast, resulting in an appearance that can look tired, bruised, or sickly.
SHOULD YOU CONSIDER REPURCHASING?
Although I did not purchase this palette myself, if I were to misplace it, I wouldn’t consider repurchasing it. At $68, I find that it lacks sufficient flattering shades for my personal coloring and preferences. Nevertheless, the quality of the shadows is undeniably high, and I have yet to encounter a truly disappointing product from Makeup By Mario. While this palette may not suit my style, I recognize it may be perfect for someone else.
