Purchased by me
In true Jayne fashion, I’ve been holding off on sharing my Glow Recipe review for quite some time. This delay is partly due to the challenge of finding the energy to blog after a long 10-hour shift in retail, and partly because I often needed to pause my use of certain products as they would start to appear “off” on my skin. However, during my birthday staycation last summer, I rekindled my passion for blogging and felt inspired to write mini-reviews of various products I had been eager to try.
My journey with Glow Recipe began long before they established their own brand; I used to shop at their website when it was a treasure trove of unique Korean beauty products. The launch of their own line was a thrilling moment, and like many others, I amassed multiple sizes of their popular Watermelon Sleeping Mask and Glow Pink Juice Moisturizer. Despite my attempts to embrace these products, I struggled to incorporate them consistently into my routine. The artificial watermelon fragrance was a turn-off for me, and I felt that the products didn’t mesh well with my skin type. Nonetheless, the adorable packaging kept me from parting with them, and here I am again, trying out a fresh assortment of Glow Recipe products!
While Glow Recipe gained immense popularity in the skincare community with its visually appealing products, I have hesitated to dive back into their offerings. I previously enjoyed their Papaya Cleansing Balm, but after noticing its disappearance from the Sephora website, I lost interest in many of their subsequent releases over the past 6-7 years. However, when I stumbled upon the Fruit Babies set at Sephora, it sparked my curiosity to explore an entirely new routine!
Experience the Avocado Ceramide Moisture Barrier Cleanser for Ultimate Cleansing
I have consistently had positive experiences with Glow Recipe’s cleansers, from their Cleansing Balm to the Blueberry Bounce Gentle Cleanser. This particular cleanser features a blend of ceramides, prebiotics, and colloidal oatmeal, resulting in a wonderfully creamy and luxurious texture. Although it has a subtle scent, it is quite faint, and my skin absolutely adores this cleanser! It genuinely feels gentle, almost like a soothing massage for my face, making it a product I genuinely look forward to using each day. I was so impressed that I ended up purchasing the full-size version last fall, anticipating that I would need more!
Achieve Refined Pores with Watermelon Glow PHA + BHA Pore Tight Toner
At this stage in my skincare journey, I’ve realized I need to ease off the acids and exfoliation routines that I once embraced. While a toner with PHA and BHA could be beneficial for various skin types, I found it less enjoyable to use because I prefer toners that can be sprayed on for a more hydrating and refreshing effect. I’ve now limited my exfoliation to just once a week at most, making a toner like this—regardless of its gentle PHA content—not something I want to incorporate into my daily routine. Additionally, the artificial watermelon scent has become off-putting to me, which is prevalent in this toner.
Transform Your Skin with Strawberry Smooth BHA + AHA Salicylic Serum
Instead of opting for the toner, I thought, “Why not try this serum instead?” This product is a true treatment that I could potentially use 2-3 times a week for a brighter complexion. Unfortunately, it didn’t work well for me either, which is surprising since I usually have good experiences with skincare products. Firstly, the sweet smell was overwhelming. I suppose I’ve aged out of enjoying such candy-like fragrances in my skincare. Secondly, I noticed that this serum left my skin looking blotchy and red, prompting me to reduce my usage to 1-2 times a week, but I still didn’t see any improvement until I stopped using it altogether. Moreover, I felt it made my skin appear greasy, and my complexion was no longer even-toned. I genuinely wanted to appreciate this serum, particularly since I like BHA and AHA combination products, but after several attempts, I could no longer tolerate the lack of radiance in my skin. It was truly disappointing.
Illuminate Your Skin with Watermelon Glow Niacinamide Dew Drops
When it comes to achieving a brighter complexion, I found the Niacinamide Dew Drops to be far more effective! These drops didn’t cause any redness on my skin and I appreciated the lovely texture and subtle glow they imparted, making them perfect for daytime wear. Although the watermelon scent still lingered, it was significantly milder compared to the toner and the BHA + AHA serum. This is a product I would gladly purchase in full size! Additionally, I’m intrigued by the Hue Drops version!
Stay Hydrated with Plum Plump Hyaluronic Cream
To my delight, the lack of any significant scent was a major plus for me with this moisturizer! I was surprised I even purchased this Glow Recipe set given that their products are known for their distinctive scents. This moisturizer is pleasantly hydrating, though it doesn’t offer anything particularly groundbreaking. The texture is cushiony and enjoyable; however, I can’t see myself committing to a full-size purchase of this product.
Final Verdict: Discovering the Best of Glow Recipe Well, I’m genuinely pleased I opted for the travel-sized versions of these products! Through this experience, I discovered two standout items that I truly enjoyed—the cleanser and the dew drops—and I eagerly anticipate purchasing their full sizes during the upcoming VIB Rouge event! Are you still a fan of Glow Recipe after all these years? While this brand primarily appeals to a younger audience, the quality of their ingredients is commendable, and their packaging is undeniably beautiful.
You can find all of these products at Sephora and the Glow Recipe website.
