It’s evident that lip liners have made a strong comeback, and I’ve made several attempts to embrace them. I find it challenging to make them work effectively for me. No matter how much I try to blend, I consistently end up with an unsightly ring around my lips after just a few hours. I have experimented with using lip liners as standalone lipsticks topped with gloss, but as soon as the gloss fades, I’m left with that dreaded lip ring again. As a result, I have only truly purchased two lip liners myself, while I have accumulated around ten from PR in various nude shades, which I keep thinking I might “need” eventually. I believe it’s time for a declutter during my next purge.
If you’ve been following my journey over the last 15 years, you may have noticed that the volume of PR samples coming my way has significantly decreased. I am actively working to streamline my blogging experience by shedding the excess from the past 5-8 years when press samples were at their most abundant. I have had an inconsistent relationship with the L’Oreal Beauty press list over the years and typically receive 1-2 products each year that I suspect are sent to me by mistake. Yet, these products often turn out to be items I genuinely wanted to try, like the one I have been using every day for the past month!
As I mentioned, lip liners have not been my go-to, so I was skeptical about the BlurFiller Lip Contour. Surprisingly, this formula has a unique quality that prevents me from developing a ring around my lips. According to L’Oreal, this product features a “soft-focus blurred effect” that naturally blurs and creates an illusion of fuller lips. No blending is necessary, making it versatile for use alone for a plumped look or under a gloss. I prefer to pair the BlurFiller with a gloss since the finish is somewhat matte, and while my lips don’t appear dry, they do feel slightly tight, reinforcing my preference for a glossy finish.
The domed tip of the BlurFiller allows for effortless contouring and precise application around the lips. The smooth formula glides on without skipping, providing a quick way to achieve a polished lip look in mere seconds. One drawback is that the dome tip tends to flatten after several uses, which can make it tricky to maintain its shape while applying. I haven’t managed to keep mine in perfect form, so it now resembles a slanted lipstick.
I absolutely love the selection of shades available. There are wonderful neutral tones perfect for everyday wear, along with deeper shades for a more dramatic look or for the fall season. With summer upon us, I have been gravitating towards the first four lighter shades, particularly Nude Espresso and Tea Time. These shades have a creamy texture upon application and dry down to a matte finish. they are not completely transfer-proof, as illustrated below, meaning that eating and drinking can quickly diminish the color.
In this look, I’m wearing a combination of BlurFiller Mocha Mousse + Plump Ambition in La Nuit Sparkle. This color felt a bit dark without additional makeup, but I believe it would look stunning with a full face of makeup!
This combination features BlurFiller in Worth It + Plump Ambition in Worth It, which surprisingly appeared very pink on me! I didn’t expect such a vibrant pink, yet I received compliments on this combo, so I plan to continue wearing it! The next two combinations have become my daily go-tos!

Final Thoughts on the L’Oreal BlurFiller Lip Contour: While I haven’t utilized the BlurFiller specifically for contouring, I must say that the blurring effect does provide an illusion of fuller lips, and when paired with gloss, it creates the appearance of beautifully enhanced lips! I wish the color lasted a bit longer, but the BlurFiller does leave a subtle tint, preventing my lips from looking completely bare. I appreciate how effortless this product is to use each morning. Even though it feels like this product was marketed as a matte lipstick a decade ago, I still find it enjoyable! The texture glides smoothly over my lips, and it is forgiving even if they need a little exfoliation.
