Judges in Shark Tank India refuse to invest in a makeup brand that turned out to be a competitor of Sugar Cosmetics.
Shark Tank India season two has begun, and judges are already coming across some of the great pitches. However, one of the pitches recently turned out to be from a competitor of Sugar Cosmetics, founded by Vineeta Singh.
Promos show that Singh said she never heard of the brand, whereas its founders, Rahul Sachdeva and Dheeraj Bansal claimed that Sugar followed them on Instagram. Videos show that their claim was true but Singh’s brand no longer follows them.
In a video, we also saw Namita Thapar and other sharks refusing to invest in Recode because it was their friend’s competitor.
Before the whole story comes out, we thought to do a comparison between Sugar Cosmetics and Recode.

Recode is a makeup brand that aims to be the one-stop platform where different makeup brands can sell their products. You can already find products from the shelves of Colorbar, Wow Skinscience, Power Gummies, Riyo Herbs and Indulgeo Essentials. A concept that is quite similar to Nykaa’s.
If you visit the Instagram account of Recode, you would find Swara Bhaskar promoting the in-house products. Many makeup artists have also been promoting the brand.
On the other hand, Sugar Cosmetics takes pride in selling its own products and currently, Tamannaah Bhatia and Ranveer Singh are the faces of the brand.

Recode Vs Sugar: Price Comparison

If we talk about affordability, makeup products by Recode have lower prices than Sugar Cosmetics. Their blue crayon eyeliner cum kajal pencil costs around ₹299, whereas Sugar Cosmetics’ gel eyeliner (DIY colored eyeliners), is priced at ₹499. Their priced at ₹249. On Recode’s website, you can find liquid eyeliner starting at ₹249.
While Singh’s brand only focuses on makeup, skincare, brushes and gifting products, Recode has a range varying from makeup to bathing essentials. If you check out their makeup section, you will find eyeliners, kajal, lipsticks and brushes available in various textures and consistencies . Apart from that, you can also add hair care, baby care and personal care products to your cart.
