After completing a week-long vacation, I find that structuring my time off to leave mid-week and return on a Friday works perfectly. Although it’s still a weekday, I can’t really engage in much follow-up as everyone is winding down for the weekend. I then use Saturday to catch up on work, allowing me to step into Monday fully prepared for the upcoming week!
During my time off, I indulge in staycations and explore new beauty products. This time, I tested a luxurious hydrogel face mask from Augustinus Bader.
While Augustinus Bader has become synonymous with celebrity status, I dug deeper into Dr. Bader’s background and his patented complex, TFC8. His credentials as a professor of Cell Biology in Germany lend credibility to the brand’s scientific claims. his shift toward creating products for the affluent raises some skepticism about the value and effectiveness of the offerings.
What sets this mask apart? The mask features TFC8, a unique blend of lipids, peptides, and brightening niacinamide, all housed within a bronze-hued hydrogel mask that pleasantly surprised me. I had anticipated a traditional white or clear mask, making the bronze color an unexpected delight!

Ingredients: Aqua/Water/Eau, Glycerin, 1, 2-Hexanediol, Chondrus Crispus Powder, Ceratonia Siliqua Gum, Cellulose Gum, Xanthan Gum, Allantoin, Synthetic Fluorphlogopite, Panthenol, Niacinamide, Ethylhexylglycerin, Adenosine, Calcium Lactate, Pentylene Glycol, Polyglyceryl-4 Caprate, Polyglyceryl-6 Caprylate, Sodium Phytate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Polyglyceryl-10 Laurate, Hydrolyzed Rice Protein, Maltodextrin, Polyglyceryl-10 Myristate, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, Chlorphenesin, Sodium Acetylated Hyaluronate, Acacia Senegal Gum, Tin Oxide, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Citric Acid, Alanyl Glutamine, Arginine, Oligopeptide-177, Phenylalanine, Potassium Sorbate, Sisymbrium Irio Seed Oil, Sodium Chloride, Copper Tripeptide-1, CI 77491 (Iron Oxide), CI 77891 (Titanium Dioxide)

Mask Overview:
Price: $45 CAD per mask or $250 for a box of 6
Benefits: This mask utilizes TFC8 to hydrate, plump, and brighten the skin while minimizing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
Aroma: None
Essence Texture: Clear, lightly viscous
Application Time: 30 minutes
Thickness: Standard for hydrogel masks
Fit: The mask fits but tends to slide down my face during use
Stickiness: Moderate
Hydration Level: Despite the medium tackiness, my skin felt adequately hydrated. I didn’t experience any tightness around my eyes or elsewhere, to the point that I forgot to apply moisturizer afterward.
Final Thoughts: I wish I could provide more insight about this high-priced mask!

Overall Assessment: This is a mask that might show results if used consistently twice a week. I struggle to justify the steep price compared to the many excellent Korean brands available that I could use daily for similar outcomes. it wasn’t the most comfortable mask to wear, especially given the cost. If I had unlimited funds, I might consider stocking up on several boxes, but for now, I’ll leave this mask for others to enjoy!
