After seeing the stunning packaging of Huangjisoo masks showcased on Instagram, I couldn’t wait to try and review them. However, finding these masks in Canada proved to be a challenge. Just when I was about to order them from Amazon, they magically appeared in my FaceTory subscription a few years ago. Now, after trying them, I truly understand why these sheet masks have garnered so much attention and praise!
The distinctive feature of this mask lies in its formulation. This cream mask is specifically designed to enhance the skin barrier while providing repair and soothing properties through the use of Centella asiatica and mushroom extract. Additionally, it incorporates nourishing ingredients such as shea butter, horse chestnut extract (which helps reduce redness), aloe vera, and licorice extract, among other beneficial plant-derived components. Suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin, this mask boasts a microfibre sheet that adheres well, promising an “ampoule-looking effect.” This indicates that your skin will likely achieve a radiant glow from the intense hydration, which indeed turned out to be the case!
Detailed Mask Overview:
Price: $3-4 USD
Skin Benefits: Repair, soothe, and strengthen the skin barrier
Aroma: Lavender
Essence Type: Cream
Application Time: 30 minutes
Texture Thickness: Medium
Fit of the Mask: The fit was not optimal; I encountered several wrinkles that were difficult to smooth out, primarily due to the multiple and deeper cuts in the mask design.
Stickiness Level: Medium – after an hour, my husband noted that my skin felt “sticky.” However, this sensation improved within about three hours, making my pillowcase non-sticky, although it did require some time to settle!
Moisturizing Effect: Very good!
Additional Remarks: N/A
What sets this mask apart? This vegan mask is specifically formulated for addressing blemished skin and managing oil production. The ingredient list features a host of plant-based components similar to the previous mask, with the addition of intriguing elements like brightening polyglutamic acid and hydrating squalane. Interestingly, tea tree oil appears towards the end of the ingredient list!
Comprehensive Mask Overview:
Price: $3-4 USD
Key Benefits: Minimizes redness, addresses blemishes, and soothes skin sensitivity
Aroma: Tea tree oil
Essence Type: Slightly viscous, cloudy
Application Duration: 25 minutes
Texture Thickness: Medium
Mask Fit: Similar to the Centella mask, it had deep cuts and several wrinkles, yet it remained secure without lifting or shifting!
Stickiness Level: Medium
Moisturization Level: Very intense. You will likely not require additional moisturizer!
Other Observations: It does pill slightly.
Final Thoughts on the Mask Experience: My desire to love these masks was strong, especially given their impressive ingredient profiles, which tempt me to consider repurchasing them. However, the presence of wrinkles in the masks detracted from my overall experience. While they provide intense hydration, they can feel tacky for a couple of hours after use, and the essence can pill, making it challenging to layer other products (though you might not feel the need to!). Although I wouldn’t completely dismiss these masks, I believe I can achieve better skin without the minor inconveniences I encountered.
