Wishing everyone a delightful first Sunday of May! With the temperature reaching a pleasant 22 degrees Celsius, Vancouver is transitioning beautifully into summer. I must admit, I wish this temperature could linger a bit longer, as it feels just right for me. forecasts suggest a hot and dry summer ahead, which is a bit daunting. To kick off this month, I’m excited to try a new Sephora Collection mask that I purchased during the Sephora VIB sale. Despite my efforts to cut back on beauty purchases, I’m still holding onto my Rouge status. I find myself barely hitting the $1000 threshold during the November event, compared to the past when I would exceed it by mid-year!
The Sephora Transformation Glow Face Mask with Vitamin C is an innovative colour-changing hydrogel mask that signals when it’s ready to be removed by turning clear. Typically, I avoid these types of masks as they often require long application times, usually around two hours or even overnight. I was drawn to this mask because it claims to transform in just 30 minutes, which fits perfectly with my usual mask routine.
What sets this mask apart? Beyond its unique colour-changing feature, this mask incorporates stabilized vitamin C in the form of ascorbyl glucoside. This formulation allows for a gradual release, minimizing the skin irritation that often accompanies concentrated vitamin C products. I personally struggle with irritation from high-potency vitamin C formulations, making this attribute particularly appealing.
While I appreciate that thin masks often require plastic layers to prevent sticking, this mask seemed to have excessive plastic. Each of the two pieces was wrapped in plastic on both sides, resulting in four pieces of plastic overall, which felt wasteful.
For a hydrogel mask, the fit was disappointing. It did not sit flat against my skin and felt awkwardly baggy. On a positive note, the scent was enjoyable, reminiscent of warm cotton with a hint of vanilla. the fragrance is quite potent, so those who prefer unscented or lightly scented products may find this overwhelming.

Fit: Poor fit around the chin and eyes. The material felt stiffer than typical hydrogel, making it difficult to adjust.
Tackiness: None
Moisture Level: My skin felt revitalized, achieving a radiant “glass skin” appearance!
Additional Thoughts: The packaging contains an excessive amount of plastic!
Final Thoughts: This mask delivered impressive results in terms of hydration, radiance, and an overall glass skin effect! I appreciated that it didn’t require a lengthy application time. I do hope the brand reevaluates the plastic usage and improves the fit of the mask. Perhaps the thin material was necessary to achieve the quick 30-minute processing time? Despite my frustrations with certain aspects of the mask experience, I found the results appealing enough to consider repurchasing. I would rate this mask as a MAYBE!
