Last week marked a significant seasonal transition for me as I wore my very first sweater dress, signaling that Fall has officially arrived! The weather was a typical mix of rain and wind, accompanied by an unexpected muggy feeling—a hallmark of Vancouver’s climate that often surprises newcomers. While the temperatures remain mild, the persistent dampness can be quite challenging! I’ve adapted to it over time, but it still makes those early mornings feel exceptionally tough. Despite these challenges, I’ve been diving into the world of Fall nail polishes, and it’s interesting to note that this is the one beauty aspect I’ve consistently blogged about, even as I’ve shifted focus on other products. Initially, Cosmetic Proof started as a nail polish blog, so it’s only natural that, when pressed for time, I choose to share my nail art experiences! This year, a variety of collections have captivated my attention, and I’m excited to showcase them all for you!
One collection that truly caught my eye was the Sally Hansen x Sesame Street collaboration, which I couldn’t resist purchasing! While I didn’t opt for the full range of colors—some glitters were appealing but not shades I envisioned wearing frequently—I did select four fabulous shades that stood out. I’ve already showcased ‘Up to Snuff’ and am thrilled to share that I’m currently sporting ‘Scram!’, inspired by Oscar the Grouch. Although metallic finishes aren’t typically my go-to, this particular shade was too enticing to pass up!
This season, I decided to experiment with a stunning fall leaves gradient design. Using nail vinyls from Whatsup Nails, I created a gradient effect by sponging on two vibrant shades from the new Bio Sculpture African Sunset Collection. The first shade, ‘Golden Hour’, is a rich brownish-yellow with a white undertone that beautifully complements all skin tones and draws inspiration from the vibrant warmth of Africa. The second shade, ‘Sunset Red’, is a striking deep red with hints of orange-brown undertones, perfectly embodying the essence of an African sunset and looking fabulous on everyone!
