Hello, beautiful souls! Today, I am excited to share my detailed review of the R.E.M. Beauty Starlet Liquid Eyeshadow. After falling head over heels for the stunning shade Fembot from this collection, I was inspired to explore more of their captivating shades. As someone who adores a vibrant multichrome eyeshadow that enhances the beauty of my eyes, I can’t wait to dive into this review with you.
Where to Purchase
You can find these gorgeous eyeshadows at Ulta and R.E.M. Beauty.
Price Point
Each eyeshadow retails for $20, making it an accessible option for beauty enthusiasts.
I noticed that R.E.M. Beauty’s Instagram mentions availability at Sephora in the EU, although it appears they are not available in the USA. I ended up purchasing these eyeshadows from Ulta, using a coupon for added savings.
Discover the Essence of R.E.M. Beauty

R.E.M. Beauty is a cosmetics brand that is the brainchild of the renowned musician Ariana Grande. This brand prides itself on being 100% cruelty-free, 100% vegan, and proudly holds PETA approval for its makeup line.
Among my favorite products from R.E.M. Beauty is the Honeymoon High highlighter, which I often use as a blush for a radiant glow. Additionally, the Starlet Liquid Eyeshadows, Pinking of U Hypernova Satin Matte blush, and the On Your Collar Plumping Lip Glosses are also staples in my beauty routine.
I frequently apply the On Your Collar Plumping Lip Glosses on my lips throughout the day, not just for aesthetic purposes but also as a way to curb my habit of lip-biting. Plus, the glossy finish provides a delightful dopamine boost, making my day just a little brighter.

Unveiling R.E.M. Beauty Starlet Liquid Eyeshadows

The Starlet Liquid Eyeshadow from R.E.M. Beauty is touted as a highly pigmented, high-performance liquid shadow available in both natural velvety matte and multidimensional intense glitter finishes. The product boasts numerous benefits, including long-lasting wear, seamless blending, crease and transfer resistance, a waterproof formulation, a lightweight texture, and high-impact color that is non-drying.
R.E.M. Beauty suggests utilizing this versatile product not only as an eyeshadow but also to create stunning graphic liner looks. For a soft, diffused appearance, apply with your finger, or for a more defined look, use the doe foot applicator as a liner.
It’s worth noting that the R.E.M. Beauty liquid eyeshadows were previously divided into two distinct product lines before being combined into the cohesive Starlet Liquid Eyeshadow collection.
These eyeshadows proudly maintain the brand’s commitment to being cruelty-free and vegan.

Showcasing R.E.M. Beauty Starlet Liquid Eyeshadow Swatches

In the swatch image from top to bottom, you’ll see Fembot, BRB, TY, Muse, and the limited edition Magic Unleashed from the R.E.M. Beauty Starlet Liquid Eyeshadows.
In-Depth Shade Discussion of the Starlet Liquid Eyeshadows
BRB presents as a pink beige matte, leaning neutral to warm, though it appears warmer on my particular skin tone. If you adore a pinky nude eye look reminiscent of Fenty Blaz’d Donut, this eyeshadow provides a similar aesthetic. I find it curious how they label it as pink mauve, as I don’t detect much mauve in it at all.
TY is a cool-toned dark brown matte that excels in adding depth or can be used as a liner. I demonstrate its application as a liner in the video I created.
Fembot is undoubtedly my favorite shade in this collection! I loved the original formula so much that I panned my first Fembot and bought a second before trying the new formula. It features a beige base with a stunning pink to blue to violet shimmer and multichrome shift. To label it simply as metallic pink feels like an understatement. It truly makes my blue-green eyes pop and was a staple on my trip to New Zealand. Check out my Best Makeup for Travel for more tips!
Muse is a metallic bronze that offers a complex brown hue with subtle gold, pink, and bronze shimmer. I found it layers beautifully with matte eyeshadows.
The Horoscope shade, described as metallic mauve, is on its way to me, and I will update this article with swatches and my thoughts on that shade soon.
Interestingly, this collection offers four pink shades, which I absolutely love. It’s a refreshing change from being dominated by repetitive brown shades!
Feedback on Shade Range Improvements
I was quite disappointed to see most of the vibrant, fun colors vanish from the R.E.M. Beauty Starlet Liquid Eyeshadows collection. The teal, purple, and black shades have been removed. I sincerely hope they will expand the shade range in the future to include more duochrome and multichrome fun and bright options, as the current palette feels quite conservative.
Creating the R.E.M. Wicked Elphaba Makeup Look

In the vibrant green makeup look featured above, I created a stunning appearance using the R.E.M. Beauty x Wicked Elphaba makeup collection, which includes:
- Black is this Year’s Pink (color changing lip balm from black to berry)
- Not Your Basic Witch (metallic olive-black shimmer eyeliner)
- Magic Unleashed (forest green and champagne gold liquid eyeshadow)
- Destined to Fly (deep berry with subtle plum red lip and cheek stick)
I purchased this collection primarily for Magic Unleashed. Both Not Your Basic Witch and Destined to Fly are lovely additions to the set. The Black is this Year’s Pink is a gimmicky pH color-changing lip balm. While it’s cute, it doesn’t serve much purpose for me. I typically shy away from pH/color-changing products, as they often turn a garish bright hue on my complexion.

Heartfelt Note on BlackMilk Fashion

BlackMilk is my absolute favorite fashion brand. Based in Australia, they create wearable art that speaks to my heart, especially with their video game-inspired clothing. On days when I struggle with body image, wearing their pieces lifts my spirits and makes me feel good. One print, in particular, the Boo print, takes me back to the simpler days of my childhood in the 90s, playing Super Mario Brothers 3 with my cousin and brother, bringing a wave of nostalgia.
Thorough Review of R.E.M. Beauty Starlet Liquid Eyeshadow Formula

Having previously purchased the original R.E.M. Beauty Liquid Eyeshadows, I favored shimmery, iridescent, or metallic shades and never opted for the mattes. The original formulation was easily wearable without a primer, although I still prefer using a primer to avoid any fallout when applying.
The matte shades in the new formula present some challenges. While they blend out effortlessly during the initial application, adding layers once the first coat has dried can be tricky, as they tend to cling to themselves, resulting in lifting in certain areas. Personally, I find the matte formula less appealing on its own.
In contrast, the shimmer shades in the new formula closely resemble the original formula, allowing for smooth application and blending. You can apply them with either your fingers or a brush, depending on your preference.
As I only have one shade, Fembot, in both the new and old formulations, it’s worth noting that the new version appears to have more shimmer, yet both formulations are stunning. Fembot is undoubtedly my favorite shade in the collection, and if you only try one color, I highly recommend it. Among the two mattes I tested, TY stands out as my favorite.
If you seek a straightforward, one-and-done eyeshadow option, shimmer shades like Fembot will certainly deliver satisfaction. However, if you are considering the matte options, proceed with caution as they may require a bit more finesse to work with. I highly recommend using a primer, especially with the shimmer shades, to minimize any fallout during application.
I cannot recommend Fembot enough, having purchased it three times now due to its undeniable beauty.
Expert Guide on How to Apply R.E.M. Beauty Starlet Liquid Eyeshadows

When applying the R.E.M. Beauty Starlet Liquid Eyeshadow matte shades, I prefer to place a small dollop of product on the back of my hand, dip my brush into the product, and then apply it directly onto my eyelids. For the shimmer shades, I sometimes use the doe foot applicator, but I honestly find that using a brush or my fingertips yields the best results.
Comparison of Old and New Formulations

As previously mentioned, I am enamored with the R.E.M. Beauty Starlet Liquid Eyeshadows. I conducted a quick swatch comparison between my old shades and the new formulations. I even included the limited edition Wicked collection liquid eyeshadow in the new formula. Wicked Magic Unleashed is described as a forest green with champagne gold shimmer. I suspect that R.E.M. Beauty may introduce more limited edition fun colors like the Wicked release in the future.
Important Note on Lighting for Makeup Application
My favorite lighting for makeup application is indoors with indirect sunlight, while outdoors in similar lighting makes my skin appear its fairest. Lighting can drastically alter how makeup looks in photographs. I’ve received queries from people wondering if I use self-tanner based on how my skin appears in outdoor photos compared to those taken in indirect sunlight.
Self-tanner and I have a complicated relationship, as it requires consistent maintenance to achieve a beautiful tan. My friends Nattie and Jenni put in a lot of effort to be the gorgeous golden goddesses they are. I’ve attempted self-tanning a few times and remain open to trying again, but I genuinely enjoy embracing my fair skin tone. Most self-tanners can turn orange on my complexion, which I try to avoid.
Final Insights on R.E.M. Beauty Starlet Liquid Eyeshadows

I absolutely adore the new R.E.M. Beauty Starlet Liquid Eyeshadows. If you appreciate effortless eye makeup that allows for a single-color application with maximum impact, you will likely enjoy this formula. However, if you seek bold and vibrant colors, it may be best to look elsewhere. The collection offers plenty of safe hues and a few delightful iridescent shades, but the boldest option available is TY.
