This holiday season, join a cherished tradition that has spanned over four decades by helping 226 residents of care centers and adult family homes in our community fulfill their holiday wishes.
For the 44th consecutive year, sisters Helen Wilks and Ellen Smith, along with their families and the Lewiston Tribune, are spearheading a heartfelt initiative to gather gifts for those in need within our local care facilities. They invite Tribune readers to participate by selecting and purchasing gifts for these deserving residents this holiday season.
Gift organization and delivery will comply with health department guidelines to ensure safety during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
To contribute, please choose a number and gift from the list provided below, and deliver it to the Lewiston Tribune office on weekdays between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. All gifts must be new and must arrive by 5 p.m. on December 16.
The Tribune office is conveniently located at 505 Capital St. in downtown Lewiston, making it accessible for all who wish to donate.
Each gift should be thoughtfully wrapped and labeled with the recipient’s name or initials, their assigned number, and a description of the enclosed item. Additionally, a separate tag should indicate the donor’s name alongside the recipient’s information, ensuring proper acknowledgment. Wilks anticipates that each individual on the wish list will receive at least five gifts this year.
Following the collection, the Wilks and Smith families will pick up the gifts from the Tribune, organize the donations, and deliver them to various residences prior to Christmas, allowing staff ample time to distribute them to the recipients in a timely manner.
