Purchased by me
One day, while watching @beautygeeks (Janine Falcon), I was captivated by her quick application of Kiss Falscara lashes and her claim that they could last over a day. Intrigued, I did some research and discovered they can last up to 10 days without needing reapplication! I knew I had found the temporary lash extension solution I had been seeking, but I was prepared for a bit of experimentation along the way!
Locally, I found that London Drugs was the only retailer offering Falscara, but the Kiss website ships to Canada and features a wider variety of starter kits and wisps. During a recent visit, I took advantage of a 20% off promotion at London Drugs and purchased the Starter Kit along with the Overnighter, which plays a crucial role in achieving those coveted 10-day results!
In my quest to see if I could achieve the full 10-day potential, I decided to keep my wisps on despite the option to remove them after just one day. After watching a fantastic 10-day wear test video, I was confident it was within reach!
The Overnighter resembles a black liquid liner and features a fine brush. This sticky black product is applied close to, yet slightly away from the wisp bands underneath the lashes. The Overnighter is essential for “reconstituting” the lashes if they begin to separate or lift from your natural lashes. I typically wait a few seconds before gently pressing the lashes together using my fingers, though tweezers work as well if you prefer that method.
For my application, I placed one L (12mm) on the outer lashline, followed by three Ms (10mm) in the center and inner corner for a natural effect. I noticed the “Shorty” pack with an 8mm length would likely suit my face shape better, so I may purchase that soon.
My first attempt at applying the lashes was a bit clumsy, leading me to remove them and try again when I had ample sunlight to work with. I found curling my lashes beforehand helped, and gently pulling my eyelid up allowed better visibility of the underside of my lashes. If you have a standing mirror, angling it to see the underside of your eye can make application hands-free. Although curling lashes isn’t necessary, it might be beneficial if your lashes tend to point downward.
To apply, use a very thin layer of the Bond and allow a few seconds to dry before using tweezers to place the wisps just away from your waterline and at the base of your natural lashes. I recommend starting from the outer corner and working inward. If the wisps are placed too close to the waterline, they can feel itchy! The Bond adheres quite well, almost like Velcro, permitting slight repositioning if needed. Aim to place the wisps closely together to form a band, creating a seamless look that prevents gaps. The initial few wisps can be tricky, but with practice, you’ll find your rhythm!
The adhesive on the lashes was quite strong, which resulted in the tearing of a set of short lashes during my application. I wish the glue wasn’t quite so potent!
Day 1 (April 14th): My first application resulted in the outer wisp on my left eye sitting too closely to my waterline, making it uncomfortable. I couldn’t adjust it much after sealing, so I was apprehensive about potential irritation. The short wisp on the inner corner of my left eye was also applied slightly crooked and felt loose, causing it to shift. Overall, this left eye application was a learning experience for me!
Day 2 (April 15th): The outer wisp felt significantly better, suggesting my lashes may have grown or the wisp shifted overnight. They looked fantastic in the morning after I applied a coat of Overnighter. After a brief shower, I was careful with my lashes, but after a busy day filled with client meetings and mall shopping, the inner corner short wisp did not hold up well; I ended up using tweezers to re-bond it after my shower.
Day 3 (April 16th): The lashes looked great all day; however, after a quick shower, I noticed the outer corner wisp on my right eye had started to loosen at the base. I carefully removed it and re-bonded it, but I began to question how many showers they could withstand!
Day 4 (April 17th): I took a longer shower that night to wash my hair and was anxious about the lashes! I kept the water temperature mild as I prefer hot showers and shielded my eyes with my hands to keep them dry. Applying a coat of Overnighter to each side seemed to refresh the lashes significantly.
Day 5 (April 18th): The lashes remained impressive, and after applying a coat of Overnighter, they appeared revitalized! However, after a steamy bath, both outer wisps lifted. I was able to re-bond the right one, but the left one refused to adhere as it had become “crunchy” with product.
Day 6 (April 19th): I woke up to find the outermost wisp on my left eye lifting considerably. After a scheduled back massage, I noticed my lash was fluttering, impairing my peripheral vision. I decided it was time to remove all the lashes!
Second Attempt: May 17th, 2023
During my second attempt with these Falscara lashes, I felt more confident in my application technique. Similar to the first time, I waited until the day after
