For the first time in quite a while, I’ve experienced fleeting moments of complete relaxation and mindfulness. Although these moments were brief, they were a fascinating sensation that I fully embraced. Engaging in these rare instances of mental clarity has been refreshing, allowing me to temporarily escape my usual state of overthinking and stress.
Interestingly, this newfound sense of presence coincided with my swimming routine. I enjoyed swimming in my private pool, as well as taking dips in the ocean during a recent heatwave in Queensland. The refreshing water not only invigorated my body but also calmed my mind.
Although it may sound a bit unconventional, this experience truly grounded me in the present moment. I often find myself preoccupied with future tasks and responsibilities, but swimming offered a brief respite from that constant state of anticipation.
I’m currently captivated by two remarkable books. One of these stories absolutely deserves to be adapted into a Netflix series—it’s reminiscent of the acclaimed Boy Swallows Universe. I often find myself eagerly pondering what thrilling events the next page will unfold.
This captivating read is titled King Hit and is authored by a local talent, Dean King, from Tugun. I stumbled upon his book at a local fruit market and was so impressed that I purchased six additional copies as Christmas gifts for my family.
Mark my words—you heard about this book here first before it inevitably makes its way to Netflix. If you’re a fan of literature, you absolutely must dive into this quintessentially Australian tale that weaves themes of despair, triumph, and hope.
The second book that has captured my attention is The Let Them Theory by Mel Robbins. I hadn’t realized how challenging it can be for someone with a solution-oriented mindset to simply let things unfold naturally.
Let me provide you with a quick example. Today, my girlfriend mentioned that she would be going away for four days, only taking a carry-on bag. My friend absolutely loves shopping and has plans to visit the markets. As a former flight attendant and frequent traveler, I know firsthand that a carry-on isn’t sufficient for a four-day birthday getaway. I found myself repeating the phrase “let them, let them, let them…” in an effort to remind myself to let go of control.
In other news, my daughter recently purchased her first flat, and she has been sending me some rather amusing pictures of potential rugs and furniture choices (which made me chuckle). One of her choices was a white sofa, and let’s just say that my daughter, Charlotte, has a love for anything that involves Napoli sauce…
Throughout my life, I’ve prioritized self-improvement, and the concept of “let them” is proving to be more challenging than I had anticipated.
I’ve been thoroughly enjoying a television series called Landman. It has quickly surpassed Yellowstone in my estimation and has made Mondays something to look forward to once again.
This show evokes nostalgic memories from my teenage years when I would eagerly anticipate the release of Melrose Place every Tuesday night at 7:30 PM. Yes, those memories are still vivid in my mind!
During my weekend binge-watching sessions, I treated myself to a luxurious experience by massaging a quarter bottle of Glory Oil into my neck and face—towel draped across my lap for comfort. I can confidently say that the following morning, my skin felt absolutely sensational. It was incredibly smooth, as the oil gently exfoliated any dead skin layers while evening out my complexion, deeply moisturizing my skin, and plumping it up beautifully.
And remember, don’t forget to give some love to your lips and eyelids for a complete pampering experience.
