This month, I aimed for my personal goal of writing 10 blog posts, but I was far from reaching that target! With work commitments in Paris and the excitement of preparing for my trip, my focus was understandably diverted. It’s interesting how life’s demands can shift our priorities, often without us realizing it until we take a step back. Keeping track of my blogging aspirations is essential, but sometimes, real-life experiences take the forefront, and that’s okay!
Reflecting on my recent trip, I feel a mix of relief and joy about how everything unfolded. Leading up to the flight, I experienced significant anxiety that almost made me reconsider traveling altogether. The days before my departure were filled with apprehension, and I neglected my health, leading to weight loss and constant unease. Monitoring my heart rate with my Apple Watch revealed that just the thought of flying sent my pulse racing to 100 beats per minute! Despite my best efforts to manage my anxiety, the emotional toll was palpable, and I often felt nauseous.
When my flight was delayed by an hour, I thought to myself, “Now, it’s going to be a grueling 11 hours on this plane.” In those moments, I had to remind myself of the importance of logic, a strategy my therapist often encourages. I decided to shift my focus and told myself I could rest and that reaching Paris was ultimately the goal. Upon landing, I faced yet another challenge: my hotel room wouldn’t be ready for another three hours. Thankfully, I was able to meet up with my husband and mother-in-law, who were staying nearby, and I took a much-needed 1.5-hour nap after only managing 45 minutes of sleep on the nine-hour flight. Learning to sleep on planes is a skill I desperately need to develop to ease future travels!
That evening, I attended a welcome cocktail party for Chaumet, and I was determined to rest a bit before getting ready. I managed to squeeze in another hour of sleep, which helped me put on a cheerful front for the event. Once I arrived, I was pleasantly surprised by how enjoyable the evening turned out to be. Engaging with others reminded me that although I often resist socializing, once I’m in the moment, I genuinely enjoy it. With only four days in Paris, I realized it was crucial to make every moment count. I took it upon myself to stay positive, affirming daily that this trip would be a great experience. It turned out to be exceptional, with my superiors expressing satisfaction with my representation of both myself and our company. This validation was particularly rewarding after a challenging year regarding my professional self-worth.
I plan to share more about my Parisian adventures in a future post, as I feel I achieved significant personal milestones during this trip and want to maintain that positive momentum. Although I recorded many moments on Instagram stories, I believe creating a comprehensive blog post will serve as a meaningful keepsake. Chaumet introduced us to numerous aspects of Paris, blending work and cultural exploration, which I truly valued. The experience has ignited a desire to return to the city, as I barely had enough time to savor the food or enjoy the sights!
Regarding the nail polish I wore, I typically shy away from metallic shades, but this one proved to be a fantastic neutral color that held up beautifully without chipping for over a week! Initially, I contemplated taking this polish to Paris but decided to switch to a different nude shade instead. The application involved two coats of the shade Gemini and I, and I must say, the finish is absolutely lovely!
Wishing everyone a fantastic weekend!
