Happy New Year! The arrival of 2025 feels almost surreal, yet here we are, ready to embrace another year filled with opportunities for self-improvement and personal growth. As we approach the end of January, we also welcome the Lunar New Year, a time that inspires me to showcase a variety of Asian brands on my blog through the exciting #LunarJanuary initiative. This month, my goal is to highlight an array of innovative sheet masks and beauty products from Asia or those owned by Asian entrepreneurs. However, I’m also committed to a low-buy challenge, which means I’ll be diving into my extensive collection of skincare products, a treasure trove that feels almost like shopping in a store!
Today’s #LunarJanuary feature spotlights the esteemed Korean skincare brand, It’s Skin, celebrated for their delightful and budget-friendly skincare offerings that are rich in quality ingredients. In this post, I’ll briefly review four sheet masks from their The Fresh Mask series, which boasts a total of ten varieties. Unfortunately, my local Miniso only stocked these four, but had they offered the complete range, I would have enthusiastically purchased them all! Each mask shares similar characteristics, so my reviews will be concise yet informative.
Aloe: Moisture and Calming
This Aloe mask is indeed calming, featuring aloe prominently in its formulation. The essence was light and watery, devoid of any sticky residue after removal, but I did find that I required additional hydration from my moisturizer and eye cream afterwards. The delightful fragrance of aloe added to the overall experience, making it feel refreshing and soothing upon application.
Regarding the mask’s fit, I found that all four masks shared a similar design, though I experienced some wrinkling around the chin area that proved difficult to smooth out. While the material of the mask was soft and comfortable against the skin, the fit was slightly distracting and could be improved for a more seamless experience.
Carrot: Clear Skin
The Carrot mask is rich in beta carotene, a powerful antioxidant known for enhancing skin elasticity and addressing texture issues, including age spots. Additionally, it contains licorice root, which is renowned for its brightening properties. This mask didn’t have a strong scent; rather, it presented a subtly sweet aroma. The essence was again clear and watery, leaving no stickiness post-use, yet I found myself reaching for eye cream and moisturizer shortly after application due to a slight dryness.
Blueberry: Vitality and Moisture
The Blueberry mask is packed with antioxidants that enhance skin texture and reduce redness, making it a great choice for those with inflammation. It carried a subtle blueberry fragrance and featured a milky essence that left no tackiness after removal. Compared to the other masks in the range, I found this one left my skin feeling sufficiently moisturized, eliminating the need for additional products.
Bamboo: Moisture and Fresh
Bamboo extract is known for its soothing properties and its ability to combat free radicals due to its antioxidant content. The essence of this mask was clear and watery, accompanied by a subtle sweet fragrance reminiscent of tea. While the mask left no tacky residue, I felt my skin craved additional hydration, prompting me to apply a couple of drops of Pelegrims Facial Serum Concentrate for a moisture boost.
Final Thoughts on It’s Skin Fresh Masks: After trying these masks, I can confidently say that they offer good value for the price point. Although they may not provide intense hydration on their own, I personally enjoy layering my skincare products. I managed to acquire each mask for around $2, which I believe is a fair price considering the quality. I would certainly be interested in trying the remaining six masks in this collection to explore their benefits further.
