Hello, beautiful creatures! Today, I am excited to share my thoughts on the Colorescience Sunforgettable Flex SPF 50 Mineral Sunscreen. This innovative product has been around for some time, but it’s newly discovered by me. Colorescience has crafted this sunscreen in four versatile shades to cater to a wide variety of skin tones. Notably, the lightest shade, Fair, has been reformulated for a lighter finish, addressing past concerns of it appearing too orange on my skin. I’m grateful for the updated version that I purchased, as it perfectly suits my complexion.

Essential Features I Seek in a Mineral Sunscreen
Last year, my partner Dave and I embarked on a mission to find a 100% mineral sunscreen that meets our specific criteria. Our requirements are concise yet critical for our skincare needs:
- must be 100% mineral SPF
- must provide SPF 50++++ protection
- must not cause breakouts on sensitive skin
- must work seamlessly under makeup
Finding a mineral sunscreen that meets all four of these essential requirements has proven to be more difficult than anticipated. Many options available tend to be chalky, leaving an unattractive residue that doesn’t blend well into my skin. Additionally, they often struggle to provide a smooth base for makeup application, which can be frustrating when trying to maintain a flawless look.
Budget Considerations When Choosing Sunscreen
Another critical factor I’ve had to consider is affordability, which has required some flexibility on my part. I typically buy my Canmake Mermaid Skin SPF 50++++ at a price range of $11-$13 per bottle, especially during sales, which allows me to save significantly. This product is approximately 40 ml. When you compare the costs—Canmake Mermaid Skin at around $11 for 40 ml versus Colorescience Flex at $54 for 55 ml—it’s evident that Mermaid Skin is a more economical choice for those on a tighter budget.
Step-by-Step Guide on How to Properly Apply Sunscreen
I prefer to apply my SPF product, allowing it to absorb for at least 10 minutes before proceeding with my makeup routine. When it comes to reapplying SPF throughout the day, I make sure to do so every two hours, or more frequently if I’m sweating heavily or swimming. To keep myself on track, I set a timer on my phone to remind me to reapply; without it, I risk serious sun damage.
Understanding White Cast: Does Sunforgettable Flex SPF 50 Leave Any?
No, the Colorescience Sunforgettable Flex SPF 50 Mineral Sunscreen in Fair does not leave a white cast on my skin. Instead, it provides a subtle muted pinky peach tint that complements my complexion without the dreaded ghostly appearance often associated with mineral sunscreens.
Unveiling the Benefits of Colorescience Sunforgettable Flex SPF 50

The Colorescience Sunforgettable Flex SPF 50 Mineral Sunscreen is a lightweight, hydrating formula enriched with antioxidants, designed to provide optimal protection against UVA/UVB rays, Blue Light, Pollution, and Infrared radiation. This sunscreen is formulated to be gentle on sensitive skin, making it an excellent choice for individuals with skin concerns.
Available in four adaptable shades—Fair, Medium, Tan, and Deep—Colorescience claims these versatile tones are designed to complement a broad range of skin tones. Historically, many 100% mineral SPFs I’ve tried have been chalky and left an unflattering white cast. This particular product starts out white, but the pigment cleverly adapts to seamlessly match your skin tone. I’ve observed similar technologies in Asian beauty products, which excel in this area.
One of the standout features of the Colorescience Sunforgettable Flex SPF 50 Mineral Sunscreen is that it is completely fragrance-free! This is a significant advantage for those sensitive to strong scents and prefer a more pleasant application experience without the risk of triggering headaches or migraines.
Visual Representation: Colorescience Sunforgettable Flex SPF 50 Mineral Sunscreen Fair Swatch

Here, I wanted to showcase swatches of the Colorescience Sunforgettable Flex SPF 50 Mineral Sunscreen in Fair. I blended a strip of the product and placed a dot beside it for comparison. You can observe that the SPF initially appears white but then transforms into a sheer tinted sunscreen that adapts beautifully to the skin.
Observant Hex Squad members may notice that the Fair shade presents a slightly peachy, almost pink undertone in contrast to my skin. However, this shade is desaturated enough to harmonize with my very fair, neutral to cool yellow skin tone, ensuring it remains undetectable beneath makeup.
This shade also pairs perfectly with Dave’s muted pink undertones, and if you typically match to Missha 13, you will likely appreciate this similar undertone.
Experiencing the Look of Sunforgettable Flex SPF 50 Mineral Sunscreen Fair

In the above photo, I’m wearing the Colorescience Sunforgettable Flex SPF 50 Mineral Sunscreen in Fair. This image was captured without any retouching or editing, using my iPhone 15 Pro Max forward-facing camera. It’s worth noting that I’m still in the healing process following my blepharoplasty surgery, which has made my skin appear less than ideal. At this time, I’m restricted from exfoliating or adhering to my normal skincare routine.
While the tint does make my face appear slightly darker than my hands and neck, it works well enough for casual outings, like running errands. I would certainly prefer a more neutral or muted yellow tone, but overall, it performs adequately.
My Comprehensive Insights on Colorescience Sunforgettable Flex SPF 50 Mineral Sunscreen
After thorough testing, I can confidently say that the Colorescience Sunforgettable Flex SPF 50 Mineral Sunscreen in Fair is my top choice for a 100% mineral SPF. It effectively avoids leaving a white cast, doesn’t turn my skin an unnatural orange hue, and importantly, it doesn’t trigger breakouts.
However, I still need to evaluate its performance under makeup, which is a crucial factor for me when selecting a sunscreen. Additionally, while the quality is impressive, the price point is somewhat steep, which may deter some consumers.
Next on my list to try is Naked Sundays, a brand known for its mineral SPF offerings. Have you had any experience with them?
Or is there another 100% mineral SPF that you absolutely love and recommend? I would love to hear your suggestions!

Sharing Personal Updates and Reflections
In just a few days, I will be undergoing my next breast reconstruction surgery. While I wish this procedure weren’t necessary, I remain hopeful that it will resolve my current challenges. During my recovery, I will be taking at least a week off work, with a doctor’s recommendation for rest extending to four to six weeks afterward.
Following my recovery, I will return to physical therapy. I am optimistic that the dedication and effort I’ve invested since September 2023 in physical therapy will yield positive results and minimize complications. This past year has been quite arduous in terms of healing, and I’m eager to close this chapter regarding my breast health.
During my downtime, once I’m able to use a computer, I plan to dive into playing Palworld. This game combines elements reminiscent of Monster Rancher, Pokemon, and ARK, creating an engaging experience. Dave and I are exploring it on a customized private server with enhanced resources, allowing us to focus on exploration, building, and capturing creatures, which has been incredibly fun.
Additionally, I’m eagerly awaiting the launch of Moonlight Peaks, a cozy vampire life simulator where players can befriend local werewolves, witches, and mermaids, possibly even finding eternal love! It looks absolutely adorable and perfect for low-key gaming sessions.
And yes, I’m still deeply immersed in Baldur’s Gate 3, having invested over 200 hours into gameplay with Dave, and we still have so much left to explore.
If you’d like to reach out during my recovery, feel free to message me on Instagram, say hello in the Hex Squad group, or leave a comment! I read all comments and make an effort to reply. I genuinely enjoy connecting with you!
